Training for Boulder League

Action

Today when I was climbing one of the Boulder League routes that was still up, I CRUSHED it! It was a 700 point route, too.  The finger strength training is really paying off.  I felt great.  I feel like my goal of getting an 800 point route next year (I'll have to complete it within 3 tries, though) is looking like it may need to be set higher by the time the league rolls around again.  Hopefully I can continue to see gains like these.

Training for Boulder League

Action

This week I've been sick, so I've only been training to prevent spreading the sickness.  Staying off the walls.  I feel pretty confident I can continue making gains, though.  Today I was able to do 6 chinups on the narrowest doorframe on my first floor (That's a new record! I've only done 3 before), so I felt really good about that.  Can't wait 'til I'm feeling better and can get back into some bouldering problems!

Boulder league, week 3 of 4

Action

This week I climbed 300, 400 on second try, and 500 level climbs. I felt really close to getting the 600 and 700, I think I was just too tired out by the time I got to them. I only had one mis-try on the 400 climb, reducing that score to 390. I got the challenge problem, which was nice. It was a no-hands climbing route. It was quite difficult, I had to make several attempts before I had perfected the sequence and inevitably conquered it. My total score this week was 1,240. Overall, it was a good night.

Boulder league, week 4 of 4

Action

This week was pretty similar to last week.  I climbed the 300,400,and 500 routes.  The one I got on the second try this week was the 500.  I got the challenge problem as well, which was a dyno (dynamic move, must leave contact with the wall).  This was a nice psychological challenge since I had to jump so close to a slanted wall.  It looked like I was going to smash my face on the wall.  My total score was 1,240 again.  Overall I still thought it was a good night.  From now on I'll be training for the league next year.  My goal is to reach a score of 2,000 or higher.  This means I will need to complete at least one 800 point route.  Time to train like none other.

Boulder league training

Action

I've been training, but not as much as I would like to.  I was only able to climb once this week.  I wasn't climbing too well, either.  I have to start going in more often if I want to achieve my goal.  I'm going to bring my Gripmaster finger exerciser with me to more places to continue developing finger strength for those tough crimps I'm encountering.  Right now I feel that the tough holds, not the moves, are what are holding me back.  I'll of course continue doing ab, back, chest, bicep and tricep, and leg exercises to continue gaining strength.  Can't have too much of that.

Boulder league training

Action

Still feeling weak in the fingers.  I still only got into the gym once this week to climb.  As soon as I get more time to get in the gym I'll really start to excel.  I'm still bringing my Gripmaster with me.  Maybe it'll just take longer than planned to get the results I desire.  I'll just keep at it and hope for the best, I guess.

Boulder league training

Action

Well, I'm still at the same place as two weeks ago it seems.  I've determined that the best way to improve my climbing is to climb more.  I'll make more effort to get into the gym from now on.  In addition to all my regular excersises, I am hoping to improve much more with all the time spent and energy spent.  That's all for now.
